底特律大学位于五大湖区旁的美国第一汽车大城底特律市，占地 70 英亩 ，建校历史达到 130 年。在 2006 年 USNEWS 关于美国最佳学院的报道中，该大学的硕士课程在密歇根州名列第一。其中又以商学院最为闻名，其 MBA 课程是最早获得 AACSB 认证的学院之一。大学还与福特、通用、克来斯勒等汽车大厂有良好的合作关系，每年从这些企业获得的捐助几达两千万。得天独厚的环境给学生提供了机会掌握世界脉动，并有可能在美国最大的汽车城获得实习与工作的机会。
